A multi-agency response is underway after a oil sheen was reported Monday afternoon in Cook Inlet, approximately five miles south of Tyonek.

According to Alaska’s News Source, a pilot who regularly flies the route estimated the sheen at about five miles long and said it was not visible the previous day. The source of the spill has not yet been confirmed. Hilcorp is currently inspecting its assets in the area.

Agencies involved include the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation, the U.S. Coast Guard, and other response teams. The situation remains under investigation.
